Alright, it's been a month since the last entry on this blog. So, this time, I'd like to continue our talk on movie trailer music. In the last entry, I've mentioned that recent movie trailers showcase music specifically made for movie trailers. In this blog, that's what I'm going to talk about, yes, the music that runs about 1 to 3 minutes for movie trailers, and 15 to 30 seconds for TV spots. Thus, those movie trailer music also run about 1 to 3 minutes. There are countless music composers in America who compose such music and there, of course, exist companies that hold those composers at hand. There is no such company in Japan. Usually, a composer receives a job offer to make such music, but in Hollywood, those companies receive those offers (there are, of course, exceptions). Now hugely successful companies include Immediate Music, X-ray Dog, Audiomachine, Two Steps From Hell, Production Music, Pfeifer Broz Music and so on and on, I mean, countless. They each compose music specifically for movie trailers and sell those albums to movie trailer editing companies. Those companies use full or part of music tracks from their albums and put them in their trailers. By the way, this movie trailer music has had a turning point in its history, when it all became very popular. Well, it became more popular in movie trailer music world and it absorbed more fan from all across the globe. What do you think that is?
「Spider-Man 2」 is it. Its movie trailer has a music track in its last half, starting from 1 minute and 1 second in. This music is believed to have changed the course of the movie trailer music (which I believe so). This music welcomes its awesome crescendo from 1 minute 51 seconds in. This part is THE great collaboration of both operatic chorus and action music melody, and successfully led the movie Spider-Man 2 to a worldwide success. The editor of this movie trailer must be a very talented one, otherwise this wouldn't have been made. And yes, without the music track by Immediate Music, called "Lacrimosa", this movie trailer wouldn't have been made either.
To be suddenly thrown into a topic like "Movie Trailer Music", normally you wouldn't have a clue. Well, but it's pretty easy to guess what it is. Movie trailer music is music used in movie trailers lol However, unfortunately there's no one around me who knows a great deal about it like I do. It seems that not a lot of people harkens to music that lies just behind all that glorious images and actors and titles (is this just around me?). But on the internet worldwide, there are quite a few communities and forums that are only about movie trailer music. I just have to wonder, why on earth there isn't any around me whom I can spend till morning talking about it !!! lol Anyways, first of all, I don't want you to misunderstand that music in the trailers are also in the soundtrack for that particular movie. Usually they aren't. But, it depends. Very famous movies like, for instance, Indiana Jones. You can hear the theme song before you see anything on the screen. If that theme song is not in the trailer, that trailer is not an Indiana Jones movie. Same thing with Jurassic Park or Star Wars. But, nowadays, most of the time, the music in the movie trailers that you hear are those made specifically for trailers. Sometimes, they (movie trailer editors) use music from soundtracks of older movies. Oh shoot, there isn't much space left to write! Hey, I see that you noticed. The title of this entry is Movie Trailer Music part I. So be assured that this movie trailer music series is going to last a little longer. Since I'm such a huge fan of it, I won't run out of things to say with this topic at hand. I'm all over it. Please look forward to the next entry about it, ladies and gentlemen.
After the site renewal, this would be the first entry in my new blog. Ladies and gentlemen, it's me, Yaz. Long time no see. Well, I'm afraid that there wouldn't be readers as many as I hope there'd be for such a yet-no-name, but I'll write something up anyway. No matter how much I spend time pondering over what to write in the blog, I can't seem to come up with anything that would be enjoyable for you (in my opinion). I think of blog as something for readers to literally enjoy reading, but, let me say I'm sorry in advance, this blog is going to be strictly an output for all my thoughts on various things and people, etc. How's that? Don't feel like reading? Mmm, read carefully. I apologized already.
